- Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my great pleasure this morning to introduce to you Jackie V. Pham.
- Ms. Pham graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Ecology. In 2004 she received her Sr. Professional Human Resources Certification.
- For the last 18 years Ms. Pham has worked in Human Resources. Prior to joining Medtronic, her current employer, Jackie held multiple Human Resource leadership roles in medical device manufacturing and higher education. In the 1990s she served as Manager of Learning and Development at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI.
- Returning to California, Ms. Pham accepted the position of HR Director for CoreValve. That company was purchased by Medtronic in 2008. She earned the Medtronic Star of Excellence Award for her work integrating the CoreValve business and employees into Medtronic. She led the HR team which supported the market leading transcatheter aortic valve replacement therapy. This program represents 60% of the $2B revenue for this business unit in the next 5 years
- Currently she is the HR Program Director at Medtronic Santa Rosa, serving as a strategic business partner to both the Vice Presidents of Research and Development and Clinical Research. This is a global organization. As such, Ms. Pham has responsibility for sites in North America, Asia, Australia and Europe.
- She is particularly proud of her work with Global Inclusion Diversity & Engagement. Through the efforts of the team she leads they have increased the representation of women in leadership roles within R&D by 15%.
- She is an expert in organizational design and development, team performance, career development, talent management/succession pipeline, executive coaching and development.
- Despite this rigorous work and travel schedule Ms. Pham remains an active volunteer. She visits the sick in the local hospital weekly, and with her husband runs a food pantry for the needy in her community.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great privilege to be here this morning to thank Assistance League again for the help you gave to a little girl all those years ago, and for the help you continue to distribute to all the people you serve in your various communities.
My mother, as you saw in this piece, was a tremendous woman. She had the courage to take her family, without anything, into the unknown because she knew she could not live under a dictator. She was a woman of great faith. That faith allowed her to remain optimistic and joyful throughout the many trials we all endured. She always knew that the Lord would provide, but that He expected us to do our part by working hard and honoring our new country. She was able, after many years, to get my father out of Vietnam, together with all of my siblings who were left behind, together with their families, except one older sister who had married and decided to remain.
The people of our communities continue to suffer. After nearly a hundred years you all remain on the front lines. You feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and clothe the needy. Through your literacy programs, you open the beauty of the written word to the illiterate. Through your scholarship and tutoring programs, you lift up young people who without your care might not qualify, or be able to afford, higher education. Your Assault Survivor Kits comfort those abused and traumatized by showing them that there remain good people in the world who care about them after they have been assaulted.
You care about them all. That caring is what makes your efforts so very special. Please continue to serve. Expand your chapters, your membership and your programs. You represent the best of our communities and, I assure you, there are still little girls and boys with newspaper in their shoes looking to you for help and receiving it with love. Thank you.
