2018 Leadership Training – Speaker Bios

Susan Dolan—President

Susan has served on the national level as Vice President Strategic Planning and on the Membership, Marketing, Chapter Services and Board Training Committees. At her chapter, Susan has served as President, Marketing Chair, Strategic Planning Chair, and Treasurer. She has served on many chapter committees including Operation School Bell® Chair, Thrift Shop Management Team, and Advisory. She has a broad range of work experience in large companies in the areas of accounting, insurance, investment and corporate finance, brand marketing and project management. She is actively involved in a variety of nonprofits in her community including dance, swimming and an inner-city charity. Susan has an MBA from Ohio State.

Jane Rosinski—Vice President Chapter Services

Jane is serving her third year as Vice President of Chapter Services on the National Board. She oversees chapter visits, Board trainings and the Manual for Chapter Management. She has also served as Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Director of Membership on the National Board.  Jane has served as chapter President, Vice President Public Relations and Chair of the Teen Court Program. Jane has worked in journalism and public relations and is currently an event statistician for ESPN with a focus on college football.

Gail Winterfeld—Vice President Administration

Gail has served on the national level as Director of Public Relations, Vice President of Marketing, Director of Strategic Planning, Vice President of Conference Administration, and on the Membership, Nominating, Budget, Chapter Services, Public Relations, Marketing and Board Training Committees. At her chapter, she has served as President, Treasurer, Public Relations Chair, Education Chair, Strategic Planning Chair, and Parliamentarian. She also has served on numerous chapter committees including Resource Development, Membership, Bylaws, and Budget. Gail is a registered nurse.

Lisa Holbrook—Vice President Corporate Finance

Lisa has been a member of the National Finance Committee since 2013. She has served as President, Treasurer, Assisteens® Coordinator, and Marketing Chair for her chapter.  Lisa has worked in sales and training for IBM and is very involved with the Texas PTA. Currently serving as President of Texas PTA, Lisa also serves as the Lunar Rendezvous Festival Co-Chairman, member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Merchandise committee and is Government Affairs Division Chair for the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. She is the sole proprietor of With This Ring, a wedding planning service.

Andy Goodman—Vice President Conference Administration

Andy is a past member of the National Finance Committee. At her chapter she has served as President, Treasurer, Finance Chair, Anne Banning Auxiliary Chair, and Operation School Bell Chair. Her work experience includes a stint as a CPA with a national accounting firm, a stint with Marriott working in strategic planning, acquisitions and as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Residence Inn.  After Marriott she worked hospitality marketing and had a consulting practice. She is a long standing volunteer with VITA and involved with other nonprofits in her community which provide job training and medical care. She has a BS and MBA from University of Virginia.

Dawne Wright—Vice President Marketing Communications

Dawne has been on the National Marketing Communications team for nine years. She is a two-time past President of her chapter, Vice President Marketing Communications for her chapter, and Education Chair. Dawne chaired the 2014 Texas Networking Conference and serve as President of Alamo City Dance Company. Dawne is involved in many nonprofits in her community.

Ann Whittaker—Vice President Strategic Planning

Ann has served on the Strategic Planning, Chapter Services, Governance and Board Training national committees. She has served as chapter President, Vice President Philanthropic, Vice President Resource Development, Strategic Planning Chair and Education Chair. Ann has served on numerous chapter committees. She has been a human resource manager, employment manager and professional trainer. She is also involved in assisting homeless persons in her community and volunteering in schools.

Liz Knutsen—Corporate Secretary

Liz has served on the Chapter Formation and Chapter Services national committees as well as National Nominating Committee. She is a charter member of the Columbia Pacific Guild, and has served as President, Vice President Philanthropic Programs,Operation School Bell Chair, and Public Relations Chair for her chapter. Liz is involved in Providence Hospital Foundation, P.E.O., Seaside Kids, and Astoria Regatta Association. She has also worked as a Realtor® and property manager.

Cindy Schaldenbrand—Treasurer

Cindy has served on the national level as Director of Bylaws and Vice President of Corporate Finance.  As a practicing attorney with her J.D. from Pepperdine, Cindy specializes in contract litigation and intellectual property litigation. She has also served as a Temporary Judge in the Orange County Superior Court. She is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, California Federal District Courts, Federal District Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Annette Anderson—Director of Bylaws

Annette has served on the National Bylaws, Chapter Services, Board Training and Governance committees. She has served her chapter as President, Vice President Philanthropic Programs, and Vice President Membership. She has served on numerous chapter committees. Annette is an attorney with a specialty in employee benefits and taxation. She has a law degree from Stanford and an undergraduate degree in business administration and mathematics. She has held numerous offices in her church and Bible study fellowship.

Jackie Hamby—Chapter Formation

Jackie has served on the national level in Chapter Formation, Conference Administration, Membership and Corporate Finance. In her chapter, Jackie has served as President, Membership Chair, Resale Chair, Resource Development Chair and Assisteens Coordinator. She continues to serve on many committees in her chapter including Finance, Bylaws, Website, Social Media, Resource Development and Philanthropic Programs. She has had a long career in the insurance industry as an underwriter and has assumed leadership roles in many community organizations.

Amy Johnson—Director of Finance

Amy has served on the National Finance Committee for the past three years. She has served numerous terms as chapter Treasurer, Finance Chair and Bylaws Chair. She is Director of Finance for the West Coast division of a large convenience store company. She has also worked with CALPERS and is a former teacher. She is a Certified Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis Professional. She has an MBA in finance. She also serves on her community board for the American Red Cross.

Leticia Plummer—Director of Membership

Leticia has served as chapter President, Thrift Shop Chair, Public Relations Chair and Parliamentarian. She has served six times as Assisteens Coordinator. She has served on numerous chapter committees. Professionally, Leticia has worked in the garment and real estate industries. She was voted Outstanding Leader of the Year by the Girl Scouts and was a member of the Temecula Valley Women’s Club.

Kathy Darwin—Director of Philanthropic Programs

Kathy has served as National Director of Strategic Planning, National Vice President of Strategic Planning, and National Fund Development Chair. She has also served on Chapter Services and Board Training committees. She has served her chapter as Strategic Planning Chair, Finance Chair, Philanthropic Programs, Auxiliary President, and many chapter committees. She has many years of experience in the finance industry and currently owns a strategic planning and executive development business. She is involved in many nonprofits in her community including Action for Child Care Protection, Quality New Mexico, Saranam, and Credit Union Association of New Mexico.

Pat Reinier—Director of Resource Development

Pat is serving her third year as Director of Resource Development. Pat is also Chair of the National Governance Committee.  She has served on the Resource Development Committee since 2010. She has served as President and Finance Chair of her chapter. A retired physical therapist, she is very active in her community and has served as chairman of Liberty Relay for Life, and in many roles for her parish and school board.

Nancy Friedel—Director of Technology

Nancy served on the committee that formed Assistance League of Southern Utah. She has served as President, Treasurer, Secretary, Website Administrator and Technology Chair. She has had a 30-year career in the technology sector including programmer, programmer analyst, project analyst, data manager and program manager. Nancy has a BS in Mathematics and a MS in Engineering from Lehigh University

Phyllis Campbell—Vice President Fund Development

Phyllis has served on the national level as Vice President Corporate Marketing and Director of Membership and on Nominating, Chapter Services, Board Training and Marketing committees.  At her chapter she has served as President, Vice President Philanthropic Programs, Vice President Resource Development, Strategic Planning Chairman and Vice President Membership and served on numerous chapter committees.  She is involved in other nonprofits as well in her church.

Sandy Ross—Parliamentarian

Sandy is the Assistance League Parliamentarian.  On the national level, she has served as Director of Membership and on Corporate Marketing, Membership, Chapter Services Core, Chapter Services and Board Training committees. At her chapter, she has been President, Vice President Membership, Vice President Resource Development, Strategic Planning Chair, Public Relations Chair, and Parliamentarian as well as numerous committees. Sandy has a BS in Agricultural Journalism and has a long career in public relations and marketing. She received the 2013 Woman of the Year Award by the 31st California Legislative Assembly District.

Katherine Gluck, CPA

Katherine reviews each chapter’s financial statements and FCR. She has practiced accounting in California since 1994 and over the past 20 years has centered her practice on nonprofit accounting guidance. She is a strong supporter of Assistance League and knows our policies, practices and culture well. She is a frequent presenter at both Leadership Training and National Conference.

Nancy Sylvester

Nancy is a dynamic speaker and frequent presenter for Assistance League at both Leadership Training and National Conference. She is a Certified Parliamentarian and a Certified Teacher of Parliamentarians. Nancy is Professor Emeritus in Speech at Rock Valley College and holds a Master’s Degree in Communication from University of Michigan.

Finance Speakers

Sharon Hicks

Sharon is Vice-Chair of the National Finance Committee and also serves on the Chapter Services Board Training team. She has served her chapter as President, President-Elect, Vice President Strategic Planning, Treasurer (twice!), Finance Committee Chair and Operation School Bell Chair.  Sharon’s specialty is training new Treasurers and familiarizing them with Assistance League’s policies and best practices.

Cheryl Powell

Cheryl is a long-time member of the National Finance Committee. At her chapter, she has served as Finance Chair, Kids on the Block® Chair, Recording Secretary, Vice President Administration and Treasurer. Cheryl specializes in writing Financial Compliance Letters and works as a consultant for several of our chapters.

Charlotte Rieder-Bolton

Charlotte is a long serving member of the National Finance Committee. At her chapter, she has held the positions of Finance Chair, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Operation School Bell Chair, Resource Development Chair, Staffing Coordinator and Bylaws/Parliamentarian. After Finance, her first love is Operation School Bell where she is involved as a buyer.

Linda Moeller

Linda is a member of National Finance Committee.  At the national level, she has served on the By-laws, Review, and Chapter Services Board Training committees.  She served in various chapter leadership positions including President, President-Elect, Vice President Membership and chairman of the Bylaws, Education and New Member Orientation Committees.

Sandy Barnhart

Sandy is a member of the National Finance Committee. At her chapter, she has served as Treasurer and Auxiliary Treasurer. Professionally, Sandy worked as program analyst, budget analyst and in financial management. She holds BA, MBA and MS degrees.

Rita Burger

Rita is a member of the National Finance Committee. At her chapter, she has served as both Secretary and Treasurer. Additionally, she is the Chapter HUB Administrator for her chapter.

Jane Glasser

Jane is a member of the National Finance Committee. She holds a BS in microbiology and has worked as a medical technologist and in medical laboratory sales.

Joyce Urone

Joyce is a long-serving member of the National Finance Committee.  At the chapter level she has served as President, Vice President of Philanthropy, Vice President of Fundraising, Parliamentarian and five years as Treasurer. She currently serves her chapter as Finance Chair.

Ashlie Counts-Jenkins

Ashlie currently serves on the National Finance Committee and has served on the National Technology Committee. At her chapter, she has served as Tux ‘n Boots© Chair, Vice President Resource Development, Parliamentarian, Admin & Tech Chair, Chapter Website Administrator, and is currently Chapter Hub Administrator and Finance Chair. Professionally, Ashlie worked for the federal government as a budget analyst. She is very involved with the Navy community as well as teaching smocking and heirloom sewing.

Judy Hale

Judy is a long-serving member of the National Finance Committee, having served as FCR Chair, and three times as Vice Chair. In her chapter, Judy has served as President, Public Relations, four years as Treasurer and one year as Assistant Treasurer. She has also served ten years as Finance Chair and has been on the Treasurer’s Committee for nineteen years.
